School Profile

Hayneville Middle School (HMS) is a public middle school located in Lowndes County, Alabama, just west of Montgomery, in the heart of Alabama’s Black Belt. HMS serves students in grades 6–8 and is one of two middle schools in the Lowndes County School System.

The school maintains an average daily membership of approximately 120–140 students and proudly serves the communities of Hayneville, Mosses, White Hall, and Burkeville.

Lowndes County has historically been a low-income area, and 100% of HMS students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. As a Title I school, Hayneville Middle School is committed to providing equitable educational opportunities for all students. The student population is predominantly African American, reflecting the demographics of Lowndes County.

Hayneville Middle School also offers a self-contained special education unit designed to meet the needs of students with disabilities who may require additional support to succeed academically. The unit is staffed by a certified special education teacher and a paraprofessional, ensuring students receive individualized instruction and support.
